Small granulator for all types of raw materials [7.5 kW]: how and why

Recently, the catalog of the Artmash plant has been replenished with the third model of a granulator with a 7.5 kW motor. Previously, we only offered pellet and feed versions, now we also produce a universal one - for all types of raw materials.

Recall that before, granulators with two-speed motors: 13-17 kW and 22-33 kW, were universal (that is, capable of processing both feed and sawdust with maximum productivity). How did we manage to achieve versatility from a small granulator? The problem was solved by installing a frequency converter.

It helps not only to switch the granulator from the feed mode to the pellet mode, but to carry out smooth adjustment. This method of speed control is used in modern CNC machines.

Why adjust the speed?

As our practice confirms, the effectiveness of granulation depends on:

• composition of raw materials;
• granulator matrix parameters;
• engine speed directly affecting the speed of rotation of the rollers.

Having the right recipe and a suitable matrix, the user can get reduced productivity due to inappropriate engine speeds. That is why if you decide to granulate food on a pellet model, the performance will be lower than on a feed granulator with a weaker motor.

As can be seen from the table, the performance of the universal granulator on feed corresponds to the feed model, and on sawdust to pellet. And this means that the user of such equipment will receive a maximum of granules on each type of raw material.

Who needs a 7.5 kW universal pellet mill?

The main advantage of the granulator for all types of raw materials is the ability to process various materials. Therefore, anyone who wants to focus on the granulation of one product is better to choose a feed / pellet model.

Universal equipment will come in handy:

• farmers who wish to dispose of various waste from their own land. For example, in the spring to engage in the manufacture of feed with vitamin supplements; in the summer to make pellets from the branches left after spring pruning of the garden; in the fall to process grain waste and straw;
• feed institutes and research stations. These organizations are often engaged in the development of new feed, methods for the disposal of waste from food, woodworking and other enterprises;
• large farms with their own experimental base. Many of them already own large granulation lines, but it is inconvenient to develop new feed recipes on such a scale. And you need to improve the recipes, because for each period of the animal's life, it is necessary to choose the ratio of nutrients, minerals and vitamins, which will ensure its maximum performance, maintain health and prevent diseases. Therefore, large enterprises are equipping an experimental granulation line to test new recipes, assess the quality of the obtained granules and feed the control groups of animals.

At the beginning of 2022, the 7.5 kW universal granulator model with a frequency converter was completely discontinued. Practice has shown that users in a short time determine a list of raw material options that they can work with for their own benefit. In most cases, they would be satisfied with a feed or pellet model, which is cheaper than a universal one and easier to set up. The use of a granulator with a frequency converter has justified itself only in analytical and educational laboratories, and even there it can be replaced by a pellet model.
